Magic Mix - Jo Sonjas Medium 237ml Bottles

This light sealer is similar to Clear Glaze Medium but contains an extender for a longer ‘open’ or blending time.  Magic Mix dries matte, lightly sealing each layer to prevent lifting with application of additional layers.  Magic Mix is recommended for various techniques and as a substitute for water.  Applications include floated and side loaded colour, colour glazing and stipple blending. An excellent medium to thin paint for linework and detail painting or when a smooth even coat is desired.

Directions:

• Magic Mix is an excellent medium for side loaded and floated colour that does not allow the paint to travel too far across the brush.  For additional ‘open’ time, Retarder may be applied directly to the surface or picked up in the brush.  Dress the brush in a small amount of Magic Mix.  Side load the brush with colour and blend well on palette.  Lay colour where desired.  Colour may be softened with the clean edge of the brush or stipples blended as needed.
• A barrier coat of Clear Glaze Medium is recommended prior to glazing.
• Use Magic Mix and floated colour for layering of colour glazes to create depth in a painting that mixing colours together cannot achieve.  With medium and colour in the brush, blend on the palette until colour is transparent.  Touch on design when desired to adjust temperature, colour depth or apply a tinting colour.  Soften with the clean edge of the brush.
• An overall transparent glaze of Magic Mix combined with colour will brighten or completely change the colour of the design elements.
• Transparent or semi transparent colours are recommended for glazing techniques
• Blend Magic Mix with colour for strokework, linework and detail painting in designs.  Dress the brush with Magic Mix and blend well on the palette to achieve colour transparency or proper paint consistency.  The addition of Magic Mix increases the transparency and flow of the paint with the ease of quick correction.
• Allow to dry before application of additional layers.  A hair dryer may be used to speed surface drying.  Magic Mix may be used as a very light sealer.  For added protection, apply a coat of undiluted Clear Glaze Medium between layers as needed and prior to varnishing.

Approximate coverage: 1 ml = 125 sq cm / 1oz = 4 sq ft.

Safe to dry with a hair dryer.

Water based, can be cleaned up with mild soap and cool water.

Conforms to ASTM D 4236 and is Non Toxic.
